Meantime, enjoy. And remember, it is "Canada Day" not "Harper Day". "Harperland" is fake.

In case you missed it ...
" Wondering what I can accomplish today is not on my mind. What concerns me most is that young people, like I was once, are still facing the same challenges. Now the stakes are higher, there is less time and the force of oppression is technologically and philosophically greater than when we were young. I fear for you. I fear that we did not do enough in our time to buffer the suffering manifested in poverty wages if any at all, the continued loss of our Indigenous life-ways and jurisdiction, and the sickness and death of the earth's life cycles."
I wonder, too. I have never truly defined any goals for myself, which probably accounts for (what society would say is) my lack of success.
I have always had the vague hope, however, that I would leave this world in, at the least, the same shape that I found it, and hopefully, better.
I was lucky enough to find work which helped people - directly, or indirectly - with their education, and/or in dealing with the difficulties they faced.
Right now, I am somewhere between the top of the eighth and the bottom of the ninth (h/t James Lee Burke and Lord Vanscoy). And it looks to me for all the world like this country has descended once again into the dark ages.
There are pinpricks of light. I know that there are people out there of courage and good heart. I still have hope (faint) but no faith.
("Is evil then triumphant?")
Our system is broken. Our world is broken. I am sorry that I could not have done more. I fear the world that my grandchildren will face, but, coward that I am, I am glad that I will not have to watch.
To Serve and Protect
Have a good weekend kiddies. But let's be careful out there.
And for those of us hypervigilant (okay paranoic) folks out there, let's please remember that surveillance is a two-way street.

Gronlid's Last Dance
Gronlid's Last Dance
"Main Street in Gronlid is silent.
It's only a block long. There's a saloon, a post office, a small firehall and, at the end, the community hall, a curved wooden structure familiar to anyone who has spent time in small towns or villages, like a horizontal cylinder that's two-thirds buried.
On this sunny Saturday afternoon, you can sit for a half-hour and see only one or two cars drive by. But tonight will be different. Tonight, the block will be packed with vehicles and the hall will be packed with friendly faces."
